Devlog 0: Preparation (21/08 - 13/09)

Over the past few weeks, a few preparations were made, mostly to fast-track the later steps to making Wizard Colosseum.

TL;DR: Found modifiable assets to make stuff look better sooner, worked out future development plans for better time management, and also started the game proper.

Commandeering Assets

To start, finding applicable assets (notably art) would be a must for later stages, and it was decided that time now was best spent searching to save on precious coding time later. As Wizard Colosseum will take place in an arena, KenneyNL’s Tiny Dungeon asset pack should provide most of the required sprites, with nice dusty dirt sprites and bulky brick sprites. KennyNL's various audio samples will also likely cover the sound effects desired. The rest of material research and development should be within the capabilities of on-site staff (aka. this silly dude).

Future Plans

Betwixt web-surfing, some rough future development plans were laid out, so that more specific design targets can be met each week. Some of the plans for the next few weeks include things like: creature (and player) movement, spells and stamina, Stronger Tiles™, and those unfriendly non-player-character things that throw stuff at you.

Devlog 1 Teaser

Finally, in the last week, the game was started and some basic features of rule tiles and character movement had begun being programmed. The specifics of which are more than just preparation, and will be more thoroughly elaborated on in Devlog 1 (when that is released).
