Wizard Colosseum
build v5.1/v6.0 (scroll further for basic version overview or see Devlog 6)
(seems to run best on Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, it's also a bit on the loud side)
Slay the onslaughts of monsters with your flashy spells and receive the fame and recognition you've always dreamed of.
Controls
- W, A, S, D — Move player up, left, down or right respectively. Press multiple in conjunction to move diagonally!
- 1, 2, 3, 4 — Switch to the spell in that respective slot
- Scroll Wheel — Switch to the spell in the next or previous slot
- Left Shift — While held, moves become dashes, going faster and further. Make sure you let your century old legs rest every once in a while!
- Left Click — Shoot a spell toward the cursor (each one works differently)
- R — Reload the Scene (if the player dies or something bad happens)
Spell Descriptions
- Dark Sickle — Fires a slicing cresent that pierces through multiple targets, dealing damage to each.
- Arcane Seeker — Fires a rapid stream (you gotta click really fast) of arcane motes, which automatically pursue their target (if you click on it!).
- Scratch — Deals damage to an adjacent or diagonal tile.
- Invoke Lightning — Fires a bolt of lightning in a straight line, damaging all enemies caught in it.
Basic Version Overview
- Smarter moving enemies (yay!)
- A fourth Spell (kaboom)
- Cooler hotbar UI
Known Bugs & Issues
- (From week 1) Creatures can occupy the same Tile (and phase into terrain), due to relaxed restrictions.
- (From week 1) Cameras move slowly when returning from left and right boundaries.
- (From week 1) Health bars could be on a World Space UI Canvas.
- (From week 1) Wizard turns weirdly sometimes when moving diagonally.
- (From week 2) Rapidly casting Spells lags the game a bit.
- (From week 3) Colliding with a Creature (notably the lich) before it moves causes teleporting, due to improperly saved Tile data.
- (From week 3) Behaviour Creatures not navigating at all.
- (From week 4) The Arcane Seeker Spell does not fire at the desired angles.

Very nice polished looking game using Kenney Sprites well :) Gameplay is good, with suitable variation between the different spells, would have loved to have seen that amazing system for coding them end up having its legs stretched with an upgrade purchasing system, but there is still plenty to enjoy. Difficulty starts off very easy even for me, and then ramps dramatically around levels 10-13, but I just need to get good. Sufficient challenge once the onslaught of enemies increased for sure. Overall nice work!
Looking good, looking good! 😎👌
It looks fantastic! I can't wait to see the final product.
